Almost 2 Years.....

When I look at the date of my last post I almost can't believe that it's been over 18months since I was in this 'space'. An accumulation of things stopped me blogging back then, but mostly a follower who continually knocked me down with private messages full of detrimental content. As much as I tried ignoring and deleting the messages it still hurt, a lot! I had other things going on in my life at the time and after 6 months of being 'knocked down' I lost sight of what was important to me and why I actually 'blogged'. There are so many amazingly inspiring and supportive bloggers out there and I loved being part of this community. That is why after almost 2 years, I'm putting it aside and starting fresh. I'm excited and nervous and overwhelmed all at once. After such a long absence from blogging it's harder to put the words to the pictures like I did before so today I'm keeping it simple and sharing what I'm doing now, right now.....

So.......Right now.......

I'm loving the parsley as it overflows from garden beds around my yard...
blog 4
I'm searching for passionfruit flowers, and finding them, dreaming of vine ripened deliciously sweet fruit come Xmas to top a Pavlova....
blog 3
I'm feeding my lettuce - they are EVERYWHERE!!! I'm growing more lettuce than I ever have before! - my young family is slowly growing {up}, enjoying this leafy green as much as I do. (Companion planting radish and onion with my greens this year has kept all bugs and pests at bay, so far...)
blog 5
I'm potting silvery gems as my love of succulents grows stronger and stronger... These hardy plants have been my companions through horribly dry and hot Summers when NOTHING else would grow and for that I am extremely grateful.

And amongst all of the gardening
I'm simply enjoying how beautiful Spring really is, with lots of barefooted bike riding, and running through sprinklers, and late afternoon card games on the front veranda - enjoying the warmth and stillness that October always brings...

I'm driving not too far down the road, to a clearing sale and I'm kicking myself that I never 'put my hand up' and purchased this rustic industrial sewing machine...
blog 6
I'm loving that although there are flies and hot sun and way too many scatter-burs about my kids are having fun (with their friends) and simply being kids.
blog 10
I'm watching the end of a day surrounded by rusty treasures as people proudly load their newly acquired possessions a top of trailers... I was lucky to buy some old timber chairs, a cupboard, a pile of glass louvers for our cottage, a new garden trailer, and a vintage 'homemade' cot...
blog 7
And lastly....
I'm finishing a blanket, a special blanket, that deserves its own {detailed} post!!!
I did it!!!! My #rainbowCAL is complete..... {and I'm already dreaming about what I'll make next}
Bye.... For now, friends.... xxx

  5. Oh Jodie! I am so pleased you came back...I have been waiting for you! How horrendous to be bombarded with nasty messages. Why do people do this? Anyway, life looks gorgeous at your place. Clearing sales in the bush are the best aren't they? It makes me think we haven't been to one in ages. Your vegetables look delicious. Your children are growing and yes to succulents when nothing else will survive. Have a lovely Sunday x

    1. Oh, thanks Jane...

It truly was awful Jane, I'm actually quite a private person in 'real life' so this experience shook me up a lot...

Life is simply perfect at the moment, I love this time of year when Spring warms up and Summer is almost on her way...

Clearing Sales are an all-time favourite thing of mine. I love catching up with friends, talking about lost forgotten treasures, and scoring a few new goodies along the way...

      Jodie xx

  10. Hello Jodie, I am so glad to see you back blogging. I can't believe the nasty people that are out there, that have nothing better to do than try to bring people down. They obviously have such a sad, miserable life of their own that they are so jealous of what other people have. Jayde from Little Paper Lane had the same happen to her recently, she received a 7 page letter full of hate & personal attacks. Sadly it only takes 1 horrible person to unravel you. But I am glad you are back & not letting them win. I love your photos & seeing your gorgeous family & the struggles of living off the land. You are an inspiration to many of us. Just keep doing what you love.

    1. Thanks Denise, I can't believe that people can be this nasty either... You're right, it only takes 1 person to say the wrong thing, at the wrong time, and it can completely unravel you. I'm so glad that you love my photos.

I was so touched by your gorgeous letter that I received in the post this morning.. The pompom makers for my girls have already been put to good use and so much quicker that Connie's original method. Thank you so much Denise, you have truly made my day, no my year... xxx

  14. I've missed you! That is the reason I do not blog, I could not handle something like that. But if it happens again, please make her, (I am assuming), private messages public. If she can voice her opinion, let us voice ours, too. Only fair, I think.

I can't wait on the post about the blanket. I love it and want to make one!

    1. Thanks Darlene... I think I may just take your advice and if it happens again I'll go public instead.

I do love my new blanket too! It's my favourite blanket project by far, hence why it deserves its very own post.

  29. So glad you are back! I tripped onto your blog back in September and saw that you hadn't posted in a long time. I'm glad (in a sad sort of way) to see that it was due to a cowardly cyber stalker. I had feared it was due to debilitating illness or death. If it ever happens again just let people know and we can deal with the cowardly cyber bully. I do have a favor to ask, could you please re-post the pictures that go with the circle y granny square?

I have to confess, when I read this post I got confused what with you talking about spring and everything growing. But then I remembered you are in the southern hemisphere while I'm in the Ozark mountains of Missouri in the U.S. where the hills are starting to burn with color. It's getting me fired up though planning for next spring here. I just retired in July and am planning to landscape my front yard. I have to ask you, what are scatter burs? I've never heard that term before
