are you reading my posts?

Hi there, I know that I blog as a way to brighten my day and sometimes forget that there actually might be more then say, a handful of people out there reading my posts as I very rarely get more than half a dozen comments.

Even though I'm blogging as a way of personal release there's nothing better than receiving feedback. I've been thinking that maybe I should ditch this little ol' blog and put my time into some other form of 'release'.

So, what makes you take the time to leave a comment on someone's blog posts? How do you find/follow me?

(Photo from yesterday in the sheep yards. What can I say? I love this little guy to bits!)

If you wouldn't mind, could you just leave a quick comment below letting me know what you think? Just a one answer response would be perfect!

THANKS :)

  1. I have you in my side bar under 'Blogs I like to visit' and you've been there since before you had Millie. I love blogs about rural Australia, crafty Mumma's, Aussie life in general. There you are, a farmers wife, now mother of three cuties, a cooker of yummy things, gardener, crafter of beautiful knitted/crocheted things, hard working Aussie girl. Please keep blogging!

    Cheers - Joolz xx

Your words are just perfect! A comment that I must read over every time I have a doubt about why I am actually writing for my blog...

Thank You so much Jules... xx

  3. I follow your blog from my Blogger Dashboard and love reading about your life and family and all that goes along with it! I don't have time right now to read all the blogs that I follow because I am in school and working, but every now and then when I have a few minutes to catch up, yours is one of my favorites. It's so nice to know that there are people out there who cherish their children and family and their way of life like you do. You are an inspiration to many!

  7. you will find you get lots of people visiting just not necessarily leaving comments.......you can see this in your stats...eg. just looked at the stats for my post I have done this morning........already I have had 20 people view it but only 2 comment so far.........also people use feeds to get there posts or sign up by email and I don't think these would come into the stats.........
..people don't comment as much now as they used too..........probably found more blogs to read............I comment as much as I can manage as I like to get comments too............I have followed your blog for years and years (more then 5) now not sure how we found each other but I I always love to see what your making/growing/farming..............I hope you don't stop blogging as I will miss seeing whats happening in your neck of the woods...........
Sorry not a short answer as requested..........

    1. Wow - I never even thought to go and have a look at my stats on my blogger page - thanks Donna... :)

You're right, I don't think people comment as much as they use to either. I'm not sure why though... I try my hardest to comment on every blog post that I read that resonates with me.

I always love checking in with the 'chookyblue' clan too... :)

I'm so glad that you left a long comment, don't be sorry... xx

  8. Please continue with your blog, I have to travel for work and I've never lived in a house as such so I get a thrill out of seeing your garden and the pictures of the veggies as they grow, I like to knit and crochet but I'm not very good so I enjoy seeing your projects too.
I have to drive through Cobar a couple of times a year and I noticed your shop, I looked online to see when you were open and found then blog from there

    2. Hi Jodie I never got into the shop, the next time I was coming through you'd closed. I was even going to park my truck down at the Hillston turn off and walk up. I keep going to make an online order but then my truck needs help or my brother's needs an rebuild. I hope all the comments have helped. Kathryn

  9. There are so many amazing blogs out there now, that it's just hard to comment on all of them, all the time I think! I only just found you (through Pips course) and I love it - but you've got to do what is right for you, and if you feel you can get what you need from something else, then maybe you can pull back here a little and direct your effort elsewhere for a little while to see if you miss it? Either way, I think your blog is lovely, and clearly very well loved!

  13. Hi Jodie, you know I love your blog! I feel we have a lot in common with regards to farm life, distance education, gardening, living in outback NSW and cooking. Without blogging we may not have become friends. I cant remember where I found you but I follow through my Blogger Dashboard.

Quite a few blogs that I follow have questioned there place in blog land recently with some also considering signing off for good. I read a lot of blogs and try to comment on my favourites. But, I would prefer to leave a meaningful comment rather than just a quick...'that looks beautiful/delicious' sort of comment. Leaving a thoughtful comment can take time and there is only so much spare time in a day, as you know!

There is a special 'something' that makes me leave a comment, it is normally something that strikes a chord with me I guess. Sorry, I know you asked for a one answer response! I hope you are having a lovely week x

  17. I read your blog all the time but rarely comment on yours or anyone elses either.

I was thinking of you on Thursday as we were on our way home from a rushed visit to Queensland and the quickest way home was via Bourke, Louth ( had a couple of not so nice encounters with the local wildlife here), Wilcannia ( spent the night on a private property between these 2) and Menindee.

  18. I have been following your blog for a long time, probably the past 2 years since it will be 2 years in December since I started blogging. I think I leave a comment quite often. You shouldn't feel down hearted though, the most comments I have ever had on my blog might be about 14, but most times it is from 4-8, give or take. I follow over 200 blogs, most I just skim over, but many I comment on, like yours. Let's just put it this way, I comment on more blogs than what comment on mine.

  23. Hi Jodie, I am guilty of reading and not often commenting, I often think I'll comment later but never get around to it! (and sometimes I can't think of anything to say!) I love reading about your life on the land, and all your crafty makes. It is so interesting to see all the different ways people live in our big country. I also appreciate all the swaps you organise, I think that is how I first came across Jellywares, the tea and washcloth swap you did a couple of years ago. I hope you continue to blog, all the best, Julie x

  24. Hi Jodie. Well. I don't recall how I came across your blog, but i'm glad I did!!! I had the 'should I keep blogging' thing on a recent blog as I felt a bit the same. And on my last post 45/52, I had over 80 views on that post, but only got three comments (yours one of them, thanks!). I haven't been as regular with blogging over the last few months because of different stresses running through my life, then, a lack of confidence that anyone would read it. What I love about your blog and why when I do catchup, I look for yours... Great photos, good recipes (although I haven't tried any of them, but you inspire me to want to!), I love your creativity with your knitting/crocheting. You don't come across as the type of blogger who is constantly looking for approval with flashy posts and trying to build thousands of followers. Anyhow, if you have raised the question, maybe have a break for a little while and see if you miss it. Hope you don't stay away for too long though!!!! hugs, Jane x

  25. I love your blog Jodie and read every post. I check Blogger everyday, at least once, so catch your post whenever they go up.
I don't often comment though, which is rather slack. I love receiving comments on my blog but hardly get around to commenting on others.
I don't get many comments either but I use Blogger and Nuffnang to see how many hits I'm getting on each post which is always nice to see.

  28. Hi. One quick suggestion. Take off the authenticity verification from your comments. That may be "turning off" some of your commentors. And not sure why you are concerned with the number of comments. You get a lot compared to what I get. Plus you can always check your Blogger Stats or add Feedjit to let you see who is reading. Love your blog, but if you are fed up with it, just stop. Your followers will understand. ;) Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  36. I have been a quiet lurker since I returned to work fulltime 4 1/2 years ago. I don't have much time but every hump day, I have lunch at my desk and catch up with my favourite reads. I don't have the time to channel my creative energies into making for myself or my daughter anymore (that's what happens in the day job it seems these days) but love to live vicariously through my favourite makers. Your blog has inspired me to design, plant and tend a garden in small town house which had very poor soil in the backyard. Pup and Miss 6 now have adventures amongst the veggie patches of various heights/ My workplaces doesn't allow for me to reply to blogs. I love to read your blog. It takes me back to a time when I was in my early 20s and transplanted into Western Queensland. I enjoyed 3 1/2 of the 4 years I was there, teaching kids from the bush. A change of principals made my job and living conditions extremely unpleasant and my grandfather, whom I was very close to, became ill so I returned to the city. Your blog reminds me of all the talented women I met who opened their homes to a very curious city girl. It makes me feel young again. It takes me back and helps to remind me of a whole different world that those who cling to The Coast have no idea about. It would be sad if your blog was to go quiet and you moved to Instagram or Facebook. I would miss our hump day rendezous, my guilty pleasure. Well, reports will not write themselves unfortunately. I hope to read more of your adventures.

I'm terrible at commenting on blogs, but perhaps I need to practice more!

  47. I enjoy reading your blog also. I think if a blog post had a like button, not just an option to leave a comment that you'd get plenty of responses!!! People just don't seem to post comments very often. It definetly can get disconcerting to post and receive no comments. Especially when you can see how many people have actually visited a post ( I use Stat counter). Everybody needs positive feedback. Hope you will keep writing after all of yours!!

  48. Hi! I don't remember when I found your blog, but it was a few years ago. You had a pattern for a lacy looking washer that I loved, and as a non-crochet/non-knit person I asked my daughter to make it for me! She did, and I used it until it became shreds--that's how I know I found your blog a long time ago :) I rarely comment on blogs, but I love reading them--especially when they are craft related, with a beautiful dose of family and scenery added in for balance. I'm intrigued to read about people in far-away-to-me places. I love to travel and have found that there are wonderful people wherever you go! Thanks for blogging.

  49. I don't remember when I discovered your blog, but I've been quietly reading (and, obviously) not commenting for quite a long time now. I got drawn in by posts about knitting and continued reading because your life is so very different from mine. You have a young family and live on a sheep farm, I am an empty nester with a retired husband living in a city in the middle of a popular wine growing region. Southern hemisphere versus Northern hemisphere. Can't get much more different. I enjoy your posts a lot and really should leave comments here and in other places much more often. So, today I did. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to write about it.

  59. I do post on my own blog about once a week, and although there are at least a hundred visitors a week, I get sometimes just one or two comments. But to be honest, I visit at least 50 blogs a week and also only leave a comment if the subject really is something that is tickling me to react. So don't think that your stories aren't apprecieted, but surfing on the net goes fast and clicking, typing and thinking about a good reaction is more time consuming then most surfers want it to be...
